Dr. Soras has more than 25 years of experience in economic forecasting, industry and competitive analysis, financial analysis and planning, mergers and acquisitions, quantitative analysis and consulting. He has worked for various multi-billion dollar corporations, which include Merrill Lynch, Chemical Bank and Verizon Communications.
At Verizon, he was a Senior Staff Consultant responsible for the review and analysis of investment proposals for mergers and acquisitions, dispositions and development. He also provided economic analysis at the request of the CEO and CFO.
At Chemical Bank, he was a senior industry economist providing short-term and long-term industry analysis and forecasting for credit and lending decisions. The automobile study resulted in reversal of an earlier recommendation to the Board of Directors to terminate lending to specific U.S. automobile companies. The Electric utility study changed the adverse publicity on the industry in the mid-80s and redirected the focus on long-term issues. The study prompted a U.S. Senate hearing entitled "When Will the Lights Go Out?"
At Merril Lynch he was an economist responsible for econometric modeling and consulting. He restructured Merrill's large scale econometric model of the U.S. economy.
Dr. Soras holds a MA and Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University and a BA in mathematics from the University of Patras, Greece.
Dr. Soras is a panelist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's Survey of Professional Forecasters, for Business Week's Outlook and for the macro-forecast panel of the National Association for Business Economics.
Dr. Soras was named the most accurate U.S. economic forecaster for 2005 by Business Week and was the third best U.S. economic forecaster for 2006. His real GDP growth for 2006 was right on the money.
Bob became head of the New York Foreign Exchange Institutional Sales Desk in 2003. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1986 as an analyst in the J.Aron Strategy Group working on commodity modeling and derivative products. Bob joined the FX group in 1987 and traded a variety of products EMS, Forwards and emerging markets. He left Goldman in 1997 and rejoined as an FX salesman in 1998. Bob was named managing director in 2004.
Prior to joining the firm, Bob worked as a director of communications for the US Business and Industrial Council, a Washington lobbying group for small business.
Bob will be transitioning from Goldman to become the CEO of Track.com. He will take his 23 years of experience at Goldman and apply it to form an independent research company bringing quality analysis to the retail investor. He and his two partners plan a January start. Track.com will be a subscription based content rich website.
Bob serves as a board member of the Connecticut Yankee Boy Scout Council and as a member of the Eastern Connecticut Foundation, an educational trust in Memory of John T. Savage.
Bob earned a BA in Political Philosophy from Yale in 1984.

Timothy Scala is a Partner & Macro-Strategist at Sophis Investments LLC. At Sophis, Tim develops macroeconomic strategy and policy for the firm's investment funds and operations. Tim has over 40 years experience with expertise in equity, currency, fixed income, cash, futures and options trading, arbitrage and risk management, and is considered an expert with respect to investment reporting and investment technology.
Tim's knowledge of financial markets and trading systems is a result of decades of experience in virtually every aspect of trading, and his career includes executive level positions as a Trader, Treasury Manager and Capital Markets Manager for a major regional bank. He also has extensive experience in hedging, funding and executing risk-management strategies.
Tim has traded through several paradigm-shifting events and has counseled thousands of employees of top-tier financial institution on effective trading techniques, risk management and controls.
Tim has served as a member of the Board of Directors for FOREX USA (now known as FMA -Financial Markets Association), a non-profit organization for the foreign exchange and money market industry.
Tim's commentary has appeared in Time, Barron's, The Wall Street Journal, American Banker and Newsweek International, among other major financial publications. He has appeared as a regular weekly guest on CNBC's "Market Wrap" and has also co-authored a bi-weekly market newsletter and co-produced a weekly financial market radio segment.
