Rebecca Fine is the Managing Director of Athena Art Finance and the head of Art Finance at Yieldstreet. Athena is a leading independent specialty finance company that was created in 2015 with backing from the Carlyle Group to provide asset-based private loans collateralized by high-value art. In 2019, Athena was acquired by Yieldstreet, the leading platform for private market investing, where Athena’s diversified portfolio of art loans are offered to accredited investors as the world’s only income generating, art-debt-backed offerings. With Athena since its founding, Rebecca was originally General Counsel and became head of Art Finance in 2021 when she launched the Art Equity Funds, to allow direct investment in diversified collections of artworks by blue-chip and mid-career artists with established, liquid auction markets.

Rebecca studied art history at Columbia College and received her J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where she was an editor of the VLA Journal of Law and the Arts. Prior to Athena, Rebecca was a leading art lawyer, providing legal and business advice to art collectors, galleries, dealers, and museum clients in cases involving title, authenticity, attribution, and restitution claims. Fluent in French and Italian, Rebecca has extensive cross-border transactional and litigation experience as counsel to corporations and ultra-high net worth individuals in many in foreign (multinational) jurisdictions. Rebecca was a partner at Schindler Cohen & Hochman and an associate at the law firms of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Wilmer Hale. She was recently chair of New York City Bar Association’s “Art Finance, Funds and Fiduciaries” and “Insurance, Risk and Title” subcommittees.
